Our Mission

OSO believes basic health practices should never be inaccessible — and we've dedicated ourselves to closing that gap one community at a time. We don't just visit. We train, we equip, and we leave behind people who can teach others to do the same. Achieving a vision this large takes a village, and we'd be grateful to have you in ours.
Our Founders

Oscar David Ortega
Executive Director
Hello! My name is Oscar David Ortega, but I usually go by David, and I am the founder of OSO: Medical Outreach.
For the past ten years I've had the privilege of working alongside Care Drops International both administratively and on the ground across Guatemala, Honduras, and India. From making animal balloons to distributing basic necessities, serving the communities CDI has been entrusted with has shaped everything I understand about what healthcare access actually means for people who don't have it.
OSO: Medical Outreach exists because that understanding demanded action. What began as a CPR training initiative in rural Honduras now spans multiple countries, integrating blood pressure and blood glucose screening for cardiovascular disease awareness, and building toward vaccination partnerships and HIV testing initiatives across Latin America and South Asia.
When I'm not running OSO or picking up EMT shifts, you'll find me at LeTourneau University, pursuing a degree in biomedical science with plans of continuing my education at medical school and eventually serving OSO’s communities as an emergency medicine physician.
